July 3, 2021, was the deadline imposed on European Union member states to transpose the Single Use Plastics (SUP) Directive. The directive was necessary to combat the massive presence of polluting plastics, especially in the marine environment. In fact, plastic waste in the sea touches close to 85% of the total amount of all waste in that environment.
The California Climate Commitment program, established in California (USA) in the form of a compromise reached between environmental organizations and the plastics industry, aims to combat climate change by promoting the ecological transition and the use of renewable energy.

On 21 June 2022, the European Parliament and the European Council agreed upon a resolution in regards with a new corporate sustainability budget model. The package of resolutions aims at regulating and countering the phenomenon of greenwashing.
The first national conference on the deposit return system (DRS) for disposable packaging for beverages was held on 7 June, animated by the associations and organizations of the campaign “A Buon Rendere – Molto più di un Vuoto”, promoted by the Associazione Comuni Virtuosi.
“A buon rendere – Molto più di un vuoto”. This document evaluates the current state of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, what are the trends and possible future scenarios, and, in particular, what are the mitigation options to limit global warming.
The national award ceremony for the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) 2021 was held on Wednesday the 30th of March 2022 at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
