Operazione Po: join the Clean Up Day in the City of Turin on September 16!

Reading time: 2min

World Cleanup Day returns on Saturday, September 16, 2023, with numerous initiatives taking place around the world.

The City of Turin has joined in by organizing the event Operation Po, sponsored by the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Piedmont Region.
This is a proposal that has been carried out by the City of Turin for a number of years, aimed at raising awareness about the protection and preservation of the Po River as a common good.

This initiative will focus on cleaning up the waters, banks and adjacent land areas (including the hillside), from litter and environmental degradation caused by incorrect actions, neglect, heavy rains and lack of structural interventions.
In particular, the affected area starts from the Murazzi in Turin to the Borgo Navile in Moncalieri.
The day is promoted primarily by the Vie d'Acqua Association, Decathlon and United Sport Vdl, in collaboration with many other associations and public bodies.

The program of the day will be as follows:
    - 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: meeting at the Imbarchino (viale Umberto Cagni 37), registration of participants, presentation of the activity, division into groups of volunteers on land and rowing units on the river
    - 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: cleanup work on the affected stretch
    - 12:30 p.m.: meeting at the starting point for recapitulation
    - 13:00 - 14:00: lunch break
    - 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: recreational-sports activities from land and on the water.

For more information see the Facebook event

Not only that, "Let's Clean Up the World", the Italian edition of Clean up the World, will return throughout Italy with several events over the weekend of September 22, 23, 24
In the metropolitan area of Turin we highlight in particular:
    - World Cleanup Day: an ecological walk through the parks of Turin
    - "Clean Up the World": in Volpiano the event to clean the streets of the city

To keep up to date with events here is the map of actions.

Nowadays, these events are increasingly popular and important because they are able to give back cleaner, welcoming and inclusive places to citizens.
