The emergency situation we are all experiencing is causing doubts about normal daily activities, including the management of waste produced by households and non-household users, especially with regard to the limitations set out in the Prime Minister's Decree. The Piedmont Region transmitted an official note on 19/3/2020 which, in summary, provides for:
- the maintenance on the territory of all waste management activities, including separate waste collection, as a public utility service and therefore not subject to limitations
- the temporary and immediate closure of the municipal and consortia collection centres and reuse centres available to citizens, because this activity is not urgent and unavoidable
- the possibility, at the discretion of waste management bodies and companies, to initiate alternative forms of collection from domestic users of waste temporarily no longer transferable to the collection centres
- the possibility, at the discretion of municipalities and waste management consortia and only if in situations of indifferibility and urgency, to open collection centres for a limited time and exclusively for non-domestic users.
For further information you can consult the full text of the note of the Piedmont Region.
We would also like to remind you that, according to what has been communicated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), particular care must be given to the disposal of waste produced in families with coronavirus positive patients in isolation at home. In the infographic all the details.
The editorial staff will keep you updated on any changes, thank you!
