Circular coffee: the Slow Food Coffee Coalition and the Center for Circular Economy in Coffee: this is the theme of the meeting to be held on Friday 27 September at 10:30 am at the Salone del Gusto Terra Madre (https://2024.terramadresalonedelgusto.com/evento/il-caffe-circolare-la-slow-food-coffee-coalition-e-il-center-for-circular-economy-in-coffee/).

The Center for Circular Economy in Coffee is a pre-competitive platform born from an initiative of the Lavazza Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo and the Polytechnic University of Turin. The Centre aims to be an international point of reference, specialising in the collection of know-how on sustainable practices in the coffee sector. The Slow Food Coffee Coalition, a member of the platform since 2024, is an internationally operating network that brings together all the stakeholders in the supply chain, giving farmers a voice and promoting coffee identity and knowledge.

The event, organised by Slow Food, the City of Turin and the Piedmont Region, aims to disseminate the concept of circular economy and sustainability in the food sector, taking a curious and optimistic look at the challenges of the future. Specifically, this meeting will provide an opportunity to approach a complex supply chain such as that of coffee, characterised by excellent products but also by many waste products that potentially have a value from the point of view of circularity. Emanuele Dughera, coordinator of the Slow Food Coffee Coalition, and Dario Toso, Lavazza's sustainability and circular economy manager, will examine the topic.
