On Tuesday the 19th of October there has been the presentation of the 2021 edition of the EWWK, the European Week for Waste Reduction, by AICA, the International Association for Environmental Commmunication. Italy has always been very active in the past years with the presentation of many initiatives: in 2020 it was the first Country for number of initiatives carried out.
The 13th edition, that will take place from the 20th to the 28th of November, has as the central theme circular communities. The presentation event has remarked upon the importance of solidarity, collaboration and shared responsibility in order to achieve the sustainability goals: as noticed by Roberto Cavallo of the Cooperativa Erica, “there is no circular economy without a community”. Also Emanuela Rosio, President of AICA, underlined the need to go back to do things together, with a community action, especially after one year and a half of isolation.
Subsequently, Ivana Ristovska explained the procedure to register an action in order to take part in the EWWK. For any doubt you can rewatch the presentation video. The proposed actions have to take place during the week from the 20th to the 28th of November and have to be part of one of the following categories:
- cleaning actions
- riuse and preparation for reuse
- prevention and reduction of waste
- thematic focus: circular communities
- waste sorting and recycling
For the registration of the actions please go the EWWK website, where you can also find communication materials. In addition to public institutions, firms, instruction institutions and associations, every citizen can participate to the EWWK enrolling an action: get inspired by the ideas hub, where you can find many suggestions to develop an action.
Finally, we signal that the due date for signing up, expected for the 27th of October, will be postponed to the 12th of November. However, all the actors are invited to register their own actions as soon as possible.
