Can a musical catchphrase teach us to improve the separate collection of paper and cardboard, avoiding the most common mistakes? According to a research carried out by ASTRARICERCHE for Comieco (National Consortium for the Recovery and Recycling of Cellulose-based Packaging) the majority of Italians think so. And so Comieco, accepting the bet, decided to entrust Elio and his band with the task of composing a hymn to good recycling: “Vecchio cartone” ("Old cardboard")! In the song, presented on 14 December 2020 during the Comieco press conference, we remind you that a cardboard, in addition to being a "recycler", must also be in good company and therefore, Elio sings "Throw the paper into the paper and discard the paper that goes into the paper ". But if, despite everything, there were still doubts, Comieco reminds us of the 9 main rules for good recycling. Here they are!
- Every refusal in its place! Paper and cardboard to be recycled must be deposited inside the appropriate containers
- It's called "paper", okay? Not always! Materials like greaseproof paper, for example, don't go with the paper. As well as baking paper, aluminum foil ...
- And the bag in which I keep the paper to throw away? If it's plastic, it doesn't go with paper!
- Only clean paper and cardboard. Packaging with food residues, or chemical / poisonous substances, does not go with paper and cardboard
- The paper handkerchiefs? They don't go with paper either because, even if clean, they are anti-pulp and difficult to treat
- Become a pain in the ass! Boxes and cartons must be flattened and compressed to reduce their volume
- And the receipts? They should not be thrown away with the paper because they are made with thermal papers that generate problems in recycling
- No scotch! All packages or boxes should be cleaned of adhesive tape or metal parts
- Doubts about liquid cartons (e.g. tetrapak)? These packaging are recycled with paper but each municipality has its own collection method. Find out about the correct provision in your area.
