The Sustainable Development Foundation, in collaboration with Ecomondo-Italian Exhibition Group, launches the fourteenth edition of the Sustainable Development Award, intended for Italian companies, startups and local administrations or those operating on the national territory. The initiative aims to recognize and reward excellence in terms of eco-innovation and environmental and economic results, also evaluating their diffusion potential. This initiative has no profit-making purposes, and is open to free and free participation, aiming to bring out and promote the best Italian projects and initiatives in the sector.
For the 2024 edition, the Sustainable Development Award sees an expansion of its collaborations, involving partners such as Circular Economy Network, Italy for Climate, Green City Network, CONAI (National Packaging Consortium), ENEA (National Agency for new technologies, energy and sustainable economic development) and GSE (Energy Services Manager).
During its thirteen previous editions, the Sustainable Development Award saw the participation of 2050 companies, among which 349 excellences were awarded, and celebrated 39 overall winners.
Participation in the Award has offered the competitors of previous editions a unique opportunity to obtain recognition and visibility for their innovative projects that contribute significantly to environmental sustainability and the circular economy.
For 2024, the Award will be divided into three key sectors, allowing excellence in each of them to be specifically valorised and ensuring targeted evaluation and appropriate recognition for the different categories of participants.
- Circular Economy Sector: divided into two sections. The Business Section for the circular economy, organized in collaboration with the Circular Economy Network, and the Startup Section for packaging. In collaboration with CONAI
- Green Construction Sector: focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy and innovative materials, this sector is open to businesses, startups and local administrations. In collaboration with ENEA.
- Climate Neutrality and Nature Positive Solutions Sector: aimed at local administrations, multi-utility and investee companies, in collaboration with the Green City Network, Italy for Climate and GSE - Energy Services Manager.
Participation in the Award is open to all and completely free, with the deadline for sending applications set for 30 June 2024. On 20 September 2024, the Commission will select the finalists, and the awards ceremony will be held in Ecomondo, at the Rimini exhibition center, on Thursday 7 November 2024, while for the Startup Packaging sector, the awards will take place during the National Industry Conference and Recycling, scheduled for 12 December 2024 in Milan.
