The "Consorzio Chierese per i Servizi" (CCS) is a large area consortium operating in the Chieri area, with the task of governing and coordinating the waste management of 19 municipalities, representing 5.51% of the total metropolitan population. In 2021, CCS launched the ECO3R - "Ecosistema Territoriale per la Riduzione, il Riuso e il Riciclo" project, funded by ATOR ("Associazione d’ambito Torinese per il Governo dei Rifiuti") and developed in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Design of the Politecnico di Torino.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5th June 2023, the workshop "Laboratorio del Riutilizzo" was inaugurated at the CCS operational headquarters in Chieri (Strada Fontaneto No. 119). The workshop, an integral part of the ECO3R project, aims to teach and promote object repair among the citizenry, demonstrating how it is possible to give objects a second life with simple interventions. The workshop follows the principle of the 3Rs (reuse, waste reduction) and is an opportunity for social inclusion through job placement and donation of repaired objects to people in need.
Along with the "Laboratorio del Riutilizzo", the "Bacheca del Riutilizzo" was also presented, a web-app from ECO3R that aims to facilitate the exchange of used objects, serving as a nonprofit "e-commerce", as each item displayed is the result of a donation. The platform is available online and usable by all, via access with Spid.
During the event, the "Mercato Circolare" app, an innovative start-up that promotes and supports the circular economy and sustainability by engaging businesses, institutions and citizens, was also presented. The app provides information on the circular economy sector, enables the purchase of local products (including online) and allows users to propose initiatives to the start-up. It also offers businesses the opportunity to promote their initiatives, sell products and services, and connect with a sustainability-conscious community.
Finally, it should be noted that the "Laboratorio del Riutilizzo" is looking for "repair volunteers" in collaboration with the Cooperativa Frassati. If you are skilled in repairing objects and would like to participate in the ECO3R project by becoming a volunteer, you can fill out the form available on the website. Join this initiative that promotes sustainability and gives new life to objects!
