Solidarity Kitchens: Turin's restaurants help people in need. Even with the second lockdown.

Everything started in March 2020, with the worsening of the health situation linked to the Covid-19 pandemic: at that time, in fact, especially in the population centers of large cities like Turin, the food emergency exploded, involving not only the homeless but also many other people, suddenly without work and therefore without income. Faced with such a dramatic scenario, the cooks of more than 20 Turin's activities joined their efforts, rekindled the restaurant stoves and supported the main humanitarian associations of Turin, from the canteen of the Friars Minor to that of the Community of Sant'Egidio, up to the night nurseries of the Turin Solidarity Centre. As many as 35 thousand meals cooked by members of the Solidarity Kitchens Group and distributed free of charge by the Green Cross and the Turin Solidarity Taxis. The initiative, they say, "For us it was a spontaneous gesture and after the lockdown we decided to continue preparing the meals, because the emergency is still ongoing. I would define it as an anarchist movement: we manage ourselves. .... Especially at a time like this, we must pay attention to the concrete needs of the community and make ourselves useful to support those who do not have the same resources as us". The group's Manifesto and all the news about the activities can be found on the website and on the Facebook page.
